Francisco Martins Sequeira, the first portrait on display, continues to live in a precarious structure near the São Filipe Fortress, without water or electricity. Since 2020—the year he joined the CASA Association, in the midst of the pandemic—he has become one of the most active members of the Setúbal branch. Every Tuesday, he leads the kitchen as part of the Tacho Solidário project, which provides meals to around 70 people in vulnerable situations.

This portrait is part of A Bridge of Dignity, a project highlighting the remarkable work of CASA Association volunteers in Setúbal and the vital role they play in the social fabric—especially at a time when values are increasingly fragile and priorities often skewed. The exhibition took place at Praça dos Mártires da Liberdade, a public and accessible space, giving voice to stories of resilience, empathy, and voluntary action. It brought the community closer to the harsh realities faced by those living in exclusion, often pushed to the margins of collective awareness.
