Two Faces is a project that tells the stories of ten homeless people who, despite troubled pasts, managed to turn their lives around for the better. The project combines three main forms of portraiture: photography, interview, and illustration.
Each participant’s photograph and interview were shared with ten artists, who interpreted and reimagined their narratives through illustration, capturing the dichotomy between past and present.
Co-created with writer Ricardo Henriques, the project was carried out in partnership with Revista CAIS, Associação O Companheiro, Moinho da Juventude, Comunidade Vida e Paz, the Social Commission of the Parish of Santos-o-Velho, and Doctors of the World.
First presented to the public in 2011 and inaugurated at Cinema São Jorge in Lisbon, the exhibition was accompanied by an interactive platform designed to enrich the experience with detailed information about the artists and full audio recordings of the interviews, allowing visitors to engage with the project in a deeper and more immersive way.
The initiative was supported by the Samsung SIM movement, with design by Atelier Maga and website development by Wiz.
