This photograph is part of Americans 45, an on-the-road, down-to-earth project created in collaboration with writer Ricardo Henriques. Over the course of one month, we traveled across the United States to meet strangers and capture portraits of American citizens on the eve of the election of the 45th President.

At the Venice Beach skate park, we unknowingly photographed an 8-year-old rising talent who, in the years that followed, would become a professional skateboarder, an Olympic bronze medallist for Team GB, and a world champion: Sky Brown.
